Do I need permission to install a private water supply?
You are entitled to extract up to 20,000 litres (20m³) of water per day without any license. A modest size household uses approximately 1200 litres per day. It is a statutory requirement that we submit our drilling logs to the British Geological Society for their records. If you do require more than 20,000 litres per day you will require an Abstraction Licence from the Environment Agency. Water Seekers will help you in the application process.
Do you guarantee the quality of the drinking water?
Once the water has been tested we then can determine the appropriate method of purification ie a UV /filtration system ( if required). Most of the time (typically in 90% of cases) this is more than adequate. However we do recommend that the water is re-tested at least once a year to check the water quality.

How long will it take?
We have extensive knowledge of UK Hydrology and Geology which gives us a head start over our competition. To give you complete assurance we always advise getting a geology and hydrology report commissioned, which we carry out in-house. We can provide a written quotation in 1-2 days. Once on site we generally need about 5-7 days to complete the work and we keep all the ancillary equipment in stock. We know how important it is to be without water so we do offer a priority service for customers needing emergency supplies.
How many boreholes have you installed in the UK?
This changes all the time. We have created a map of most of our borehole installations, which you can view here.
How much access do you need?
We have several rigs all designed for different installations. Our smaller rigs can access domestic properties with ease. Water Seekers also have rigs that are mounted on Ford County Tractors especially for farms, golf courses and larger properties. We also utilise larger rigs for commercial applications.
If contamination is found can the water be purified?
Yes. We will recommend the right purification method. The borehole must be located away from possible contamination such as drains, cess pits, bio-digesters etc.
Is the equipment you install guaranteed?
We use Capari, Lowara and Pedrollo equipment, and this is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
Is water from the aquifer safe to drink?
The majority of the time the water is safe to drink. The important factor is forming the well correctly, making sure we eliminate any possibility of cross contamination. Sometimes the water contains certain minerals and in rare cases it can be contaminated by other sources. All water intended for drinking purposes will be tested and approved by a UKAS accredited laboratory, usually our Local Authority.
What guarantees do you give for quality and workmanship?
Our workmanship is guaranteed for 1 year. All the components we use are the best on the market and come with manufacturers’ guarantees.
Will you find water and is it guaranteed?
We will not commence drilling until we have a full prognosis report in place. It is unlikely that we will not find water, but in the event that this occurs we will only charge for the drilling time. We cannot guarantee that the water will be there forever and this is because water is a natural resource. However the borehole report gives an excellent indication into the quality and quantity you can expect. To date we have never had a well fail due to insufficient water.
